Malcolm Pickett is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Investment Advisor Representative and Senior Financial Adviser for Liberty Group, LLC. Mr. Pickett is a California State licensed life insurance agent with Long-term Care, Workers Compensation and Variable Contract authorizations. Malcolm is a Registered Tax Preparer with the California Tax Education Council. He specializes in managing investment portfolios, estate, tax and retirement planning for individuals and families. Other areas of expertise include: employee benefit planning, tax minimization strategies, 1031 Tenants in Common Exchanges and annuities; estate planning and life insurance; long-term care planning and long-term care insurance; and education planning and 529 plans. Mr. Pickett is dedicated to providing objective expert advice and high quality service, all at a reasonable price. Mr. Pickett is an active member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He serves as a moderator for LUTF and FSS classes from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Pickett graduated from California Lutheran University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biological Sciences and then from the California Western School of Law obtaining his Juris Doctorate. In 1992, he obtained his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from the College for Financial Planning. Mr. Pickett serves as a lecturer in the Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. His teaching specializations are Risk Management, Estate and Retirement Planning.
Mr. Pickett is a past Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 434 and current merit badge counselor for Personal Management, Fishing, Soil and Water Conservation, Cooking, and Shotgun Shooting. Malcolm has served as a Director and Treasurer for the San Luis Obispo Symphony Association. Malcolm has also served as President of CLU Circle K, Morro Bay Kiwanis and is a member of the Templeton Kiwanis. Malcolm has had extensive foreign travel in China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, New Zealand, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico and the Cayman Islands.
